ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Angie Stahlmann was born and raised right here in Saint Michael, MN. With the Crow River boarding her family's property, Angie became fond of the river and its environment at a young age. More times than not, her parents could find her sitting on a bench near the river fishing for leaves with a tree branch she had stolen from the nearby woods.
Fast forward to her college-aged years, Angie began pursuing her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies and Environmental Science from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. Early on in her four years of study, Angie realized that she was being called to bring her two main areas of study together by working in the nonprofit sector
After graduation, Angie began her career in nonprofit work with the organization Habitat for Humanity. It was here that she realized the overwhelming joy she received from engaging with and educating the public on community issues.
However, in the Spring of 2016, Angie couldn't help but resist the feeling that she was supposed to return back to her home on the Crow. After going back to Saint Michael and revisiting her old hangout spots along the river, she discovered that there was a lack of connection between her home community and its natural environment, and therefore a need for environmental education. Thus began the development of the Crow River Environmental Education Center.
As an environmentalist, outdoors enthusiast, and education advocate, Angie is more than ready to share her passion for environmental awareness and education with the rest of her community.
So join us in our journey in bringing people and nature together along the Crow. By developing a strong sense of community with our environment, we can all become stewards of the earth.
